Smartphones are 'the next big advertising platform'
It makes "perfect sense" that smartphones will be the next big advertising platform, claimed one mobile expert.
Natasha Stokes, editor of Mobile Choice, said: "As mobile internet becomes even more widespread, we'll see increasing opportunities for advertisers to move spending to smartphones."
Her comments come after GfK Retail and Technology revealed this week that Google's Android phone increased its UK mobile market share from three per cent in the first quarter of the year to 13.2 per cent in the second quarter.
This has been accompanied by a 350 per cent increase in sales of the phone during the same period.
Figures from the company also revealed that smartphones represent 73.5 per cent of the contract market, suggesting that people in
marketing jobs will have a large target market if they use a smartphone platform for their next campaign.
Ms Stokes noted that the market could see a rise in the number of budget smartphones running on the Android operating system, allowing lower-end customers to get in on the act.
